You Prayed for Customers. They Came. But You Sent Them Away!
Dearly Beloved Kingdom Giants,
I trust you are doing well.
It is another time to share something awesome with you.
Today, I want to talk with the “entrepreneurs” in our fellowship.
I will share a story about something my friend Andrew (not his real name) experienced recently.
"Not slothful in business…"
— Romans 12:11 (KJV)
Once upon a time, not too long ago.
Andrew, like most of you, worships at Faith Tabernacle, Canaanland, Ota. After the second Sunday service, he remembered it was time to get the "Covenant Bread." (I strongly recommend you order and eat this bread…. it’s not the usual bread in your city.LOL) before leaving Canaanland.
Apologies for digressing.
Back to my story.
He approached the seller and asked, "Can I make a transfer? I don't have cash."
The response?
"No. We only accept cash."
He politely walked away and eventually bought the bread elsewhere. But as he left, something bothered him. This seller was likely a Christian, perhaps even one who had prayed that morning, saying, "Lord, send me customers today."
Well, God answered. But the blessing bounced back, not because of a spiritual issue, but because of a systems issue.
Now let me ask you, dear entrepreneur:
How many blessings have you blocked simply because you refused to embrace simple tools that would make your business easier to do business with?
In this digital age, a lack of multiple payment options is not just a minor inconvenience—it is a profit killer and a testimony spoiler.
I will repeat that again ‘In this digital age, a lack of multiple payment options is not just a minor inconvenience—it is a profit killer and a testimony spoiler’
The Importance of Multiple Payment Channels
As a business owner in today’s world, especially one operating from a place of faith, you must understand that it is not enough to pray for customers. You must also prepare for customers.
Here's why having multiple payment systems is no longer optional:
Customers Have Preferences: Not everyone carries cash. Some use cards, mobile transfers, USSD codes, QR codes, wallets, even cryptocurrencies in some cases. Meet them where they are.
Convenience Equals Conversion: The easier it is to pay, the faster the sale happens. Friction in payment equals lost opportunities.
Builds Trust: Professional businesses provide flexible payment methods. It positions your brand as modern, organized, and trustworthy.
Encourages Repeat Purchases: If a customer knows your payment process is smooth, they are more likely to return.
Business Continuity: When POS networks fail, bank apps hang, or there's no cash, another method saves the sale.
Consequences of Not Having Multiple Payment Systems
You turn away serious customers.
You create frustration that leads to bad reviews or loss of reputation.
You waste the results of your own prayers and marketing efforts.
You make your business look outdated.
You limit your growth potential, especially if you're looking to scale.
"Innovation is the ability to convert ideas into invoices."
— Lewis Duncan, former President of Rollins College
Simple Steps to Set Up Multiple Payment Options
Let me walk you through it practically:
1. Start with Bank Transfers
Create a business account (not your personal account) so you can track transactions properly.
Display the account details clearly on your signboard, table, or invoice.
2. Add a POS Machine
Get a mobile POS terminal from your bank or fintech platforms like Opay, Moniepoint, Kuda, or Palmpay, etc (kindly note these are just examples and not RECOMMENDATIONS)
These also allow you to take cash and do transfers easily.
3. Use QR Code Payments
Set up a QR payment via Paystack, Flutterwave, or your bank app. Customers can simply scan and pay.
4. Explore Mobile Wallets
Register with services like Paga, Palmpay, or Kuda to receive mobile wallet payments.
5. Automate Receipts
Use apps like Loyverse or SabiPOS to track sales, send receipts, and manage inventory alongside payments.
6. Display All Options Visibly
Put up a simple poster or board showing the various ways customers can pay. Don’t make them ask.
7. Train Your Staff (and Yourself)
Make sure everyone involved in your business knows how to use the payment systems correctly.
Beloved Kingdom Giant, you are not just doing business.
You are in the Kingdom business.
That means everything you do—from your branding to your customer service and your payment systems—must reflect excellence.
God is bringing customers your way. Will you send them away because of poor systems? Or will you be ready to receive them with wisdom and excellence?
Make the shift. Set up those systems. And prepare for overflowing sales.
